Adoption Update

Finally I have something new (and good!) to share regarding our adoption.  I called the USCIS this morning to check on the status of our I-600A.  The last time I called, about 2-3 weeks ago, our file hadn't been assigned to a caseworker yet.  Despite the very unfriendly lady I spoke with, my spirit was overwhelmingly glad because she said our case was approved yesterday and we should get our approval in the mail in 2-3 days!  We couldn't be happier to hear this news!  I'm hoping we receive it Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday, but I wouldn't cry if we got it tomorrow ;)  Yay for moving forward!

With our approval soon in-hand, we will be placed on the waiting list in the next few weeks.  We got word from our agency a few weeks ago that the wait time for a referral is now approx. 9-12 months.  While obviously we were hoping for sooner, we are still very sure this is God's plan to grow our family, and we are going to settle into the wait.  See this post over at Pure & Lasting for a wonderful explanation of the waiting period.  It puts into words almost exactly what we feel.  Go ahead and read the rest of her blog too as she and her husband are getting ready to bring home their sweet little girl.  Gosh I love adoption!

So with that in mind, it's almost like we're just now starting the "normal" wait for those who are physically pregnant.  So that's how I'm going to look at it, even though we've already been waiting for 9 mo. almost exactly ;)  I got a new necklace that I love from this shop on etsy (pictured) to celebrate the wait for our son.  I'm going to use the next 9-12 mo. spending time with the Lord, being a wife,  having fun with my friends, attending an awesome adoption conference in Jan. with one of my best friends who is doing foster care, resting/relaxing, having fun, reading, dreaming up/beginning to decorate the perfect nursery for our little guy, and preparing our home and hearts to be parents.  I am so thankful for the things the Lord is teaching me during the wait, and the peace and love He is continually surrounding me with is more than I can adequately put into words.  He can be trusted and His promises are pure and true.

For you are God, O Sovereign Lord.
Your words are truth,
and you have promised these good things to your servant.
2 Samuel 7:28
